Her Journey
After completing her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree, Irene was admitted to practice law in the State of New York and worked with the Asylum Application Help Center, a project under the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs. The project, which received the American Bar Association’s Hodson Award for distinguished public service in July 2024, allowed Irene to assist immigrants applying for lawful status in the U.S., including supporting asylum and removal defense cases.
Irene further gained extensive hands-on experience working with other immigration law professionals on contract, particularly in VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) petitions, which protect both women and men who are victims of abuse. This work resonated deeply with Irene, as it allowed her to contribute to a cause close to her heart—women’s empowerment. Irene has also developed significant expertise in T- and U-visa petitions, family-based immigration law, and business immigration law.
